Without accountability, we see reductions in motivation, a lack of trust, and lower productivity because nothing ever gets done. So how do we discipline those that fall short of expectations?

Because I said so is no longer enough

In today’s world, there are higher expectations of employers than there are for employees. So how do you hold team members accountable? We all agree that poor performance needs some form of discipline. Although employees have some form of leverage over employers, we can still be creative to tan someone’s hide! Remember, we are talking about repeat offenders, not once-in-a-blue-moon mistakes.

You will have lackluster employees even if you are actively coaching and mentoring your team. For this person not to affect your staff, you must tackle these problems head-on.

Be creative

The old-fashioned ways to punish employees were to; dock pay, suspend them, or even force overtime. If you send someone home early today, they see it as a benefit. We try to develop professionalism in our team, so we must treat them respectfully as we dole out your penance. Here are some ideas and ways to apply pressure on those underachieving.
