This week’s blog is short and straightforward. If you don’t know who Ted Lasso is, find out. If we had more Ted’s, our world would be exponentially better.
Believe in yourself
If you wouldn’t follow you, why should others? Lesson #1 is to fix thyself before you start working on the team. Give yourself an assessment and ask others to rate you on the key factors of leadership.
Doing the right thing is never the wrong thing
There’s never a wrong time to do the right thing. This is the foundation of integrity.
All people are different people
There isn’t a standard way you treat everyone. Use the platinum rule, and treat others the way they want to be treated.
See the good in others
Every person in the world has intrinsic value. Check out my article from last year as a reminder
Courage is about being willing to try
Leaders know the way and show the way.
Vulnerability is a strength, not a weakness
One of the fastest ways to gain trust is to show your vulnerability. Leaders make mistakes, and respect soon follows when they own up to them. Leaders look through the window to give praise and in the mirror for blame.
Tell the truth
Your team doesn’t expect you to sugarcoat anything or paint false hopes. Better decisions are made when they know the truth.
Winning is an attitude
When winning is expected, people tend to do more and see more. Having contingency plans is part of the process, but if we spend more time on the execution of the primary plan, winning will come more often.
Optimists do more
Better said is that pessimists see no point in doing the extra step. Quitting is not an option for an optimist.
Stay teachable
You are always learning. Good leaders never stop growing, and they are open-minded.
Be a Goldfish
If you do something wrong, do not let it define you. Forget it - like a goldfish - within 10 seconds.
Happiness is a choice
What’s your decison?
At the Kole Performance Group we focus on principles such as these in developing leaders. Where are you having trouble? Let’s connect for a free 30-minute consultation to see if and how we can help. It is hard work today, but it will lead to a better tomorrow.
Have a great Labor Day weekend!
