Be successful each day by considering this one thing!
You just returned home from your high school reunion. The girl who sat in front of you in calculus hit it big in the dot-com days and now she’s a multi millionaire. The guys you were in that make shift band together, started a small company that is now franchised in 20 States. You see the girl who came in 2nd for Class President now sits on the City Council, and she is campaigning for a seat in the State Legislature.
Do you start to think “would-a, could-a, should-a?”.
If you do, DON’T!
Are you looking at what you have and comparing it to what they seem to have?
If you are, STOP!
We are all at a place in our lives for hundreds of reasons. You are exactly where you should be, and the only person you should be comparing yourself is to YOU YESTERDAY. Have you done anything to improve yourself, your situation or your business? Have you done something that will improve just you? That is what it is all about.
If you are the type that looks at where others are and strives to get there, you will always fall short. Those people are moving as well, and their situation changes as will yours. The most successful people define their success solely on their position, not where they lie in the pecking order.
So the key to this success you seek, is one thing and one thing only. Improve each day. Make one step or 10 steps, but focus on going forward. It is all about continuous improvement.
In business terms, think of it this way. Assume for a moment that you own a small hamburger stand. Do you compare yourself with McDonald's?
Or is it more important to examine what your business did in the last 24-hours to improve?
Did you learn any new things that will make your food taste better?
What things did you implement to enhance the satisfaction of your employees?
Did you find a way to attract more customers?
Continuous improvement is a guiding principle at The Kole Performance Group. It’s hard work today, but it brings a better tomorrow.
